Gilmer Middle School is a Title I school. This means the school receives Federal monies as mandated by NCLB (No Child Left Behind). These funds are to provide technical assistance, resources, and program monitoring of local education agencies to ensure that all children have an opportunity to obtain a high quality education and to achieve proficiency on high academic standards.
- Technical Assistance - The state DOE provides Title I Area Specialists, Grant Program Coordinators, and other Program Specialists, interpret state and federal law and provide guidelines for implementing Title programs, address specific questions and concerns regarding Title programs, and provide information and assistance in implementing various requirements and guidelines.
- Resources - The state Title I division provides a number of electronic tools and documents to local school systems to ensure effective program implementation. We also provide area meetings and a statewide summer conference for local school systems and school staff to provide professional development.
- Monitoring - The state Title I division regularly monitors Title programs at the local level to ensure compliance with regulations as well as to assure the delivery being utilized with at-risk populations.
